The Northern York County Regional Police
Department is currently undergoing a lengthy accreditation process.
Accreditation makes an agency take a regular look at operational,
administrative and support functions and review them against the standards
adopted by a recognized certifying agency.
By doing this, we are constantly evaluating the level of
service provided to our citizens and optimizing the professional approach to
delivery of law enforcement services to our community.
The Northern York County Regional Police Department is a
member of PPAC, the
Pennsylvania Police Accreditation Coalition. PPAC also works to
educate other agencies on the benefits of accreditation and offers
assistance to agencies in the form of policy exchange and preliminary
on-site assessments. This organization has drafted state accreditation
standards which are currently being reviewed by the
Pennsylvania Chiefs of
Police Association. They have formed a committee to implement a
state accreditation system for participating agencies across the
Commonwealth.
