The Officer Dorothy program was started in 1998 after the death of a resident of Manchester Township, Dorothy Kling.  Ms. Kling was an avid supporter of our department and deeply concerned with the safety of the area's children.  When Ms. Kling passed in 1997, she left a portion of her estate to our department to purchase the Officer Dorothy robot seen in the pictures on this separate page.

Officer Dorothy makes her rounds to local schools and various groups teaching young children about safety issues ranging from what to do in an emergency to incidents involving strangers.  The Officer Dorothy program also includes Child Identification Kits, which our Community Policing Officer helps the children to complete.  The kit has the child's fingerprints and pertinent information, which is sent home for the parents to keep.  Click on the Officer Dorothy picture to the right to see a short video of Dorothy at the Dover Fireman's Fair.
