Since its inception in September of 1972, the Northern York County Regional Police has undergone many changes. However, the basic concept of cooperation and consolidation in the delivery of quality police service remains the cornerstone of the department. Not only has the number of participating municipalities increased to eight, but the department has doubled in size.
Currently the Northern York County Regional Police Department provides essential police services for eight York County Municipalities. The current participating municipalities are: DOVER TOWNSHIP, DOVER BOROUGH, MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, PARADISE TOWNSHIP, CONEWAGO TOWNSHIP, NORTH YORK BOROUGH, FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP and JACKSON TOWNSHIP. The population of the combined coverage area is approaching 60,000 and encompasses nearly 150 square miles.
The present complement of the Department is forty-five sworn officers, including a Chief, two Lieutenants, four Sergeants, six Corporals, four Criminal Investigators, and twenty-eight Patrol Officers. There are four full-time civilians and eight part-time employees who provide support services for the Department.
